What is a Spartan Race?

Spartan Racing is the revolutionary way to work out, pushing your body to the limits with their world leading obstacle courses. Racing styles range from muddy 3+ mile events up to 40+ mile events. And you don’t have to be an “extreme” athlete to get into the game. Beginners can do the 5k (3.2 miles) sprint trail race, (hey, get off the couch, out of the house and move!) More seasoned athletes can get down and dirty on an obstacle course with fire, mud, water, barbed wire, climbing, dragging, crawling, and of course, extreme competition.

When I first learned about Spartan Race I was intrigued. I teach an intense outdoor boot camp to a group of women 3 days a week in New York City. It’s a challenging workout that increases strength, endurance and mental stamina. As human beings we all have a competitive side and we thrive off of companionship. These elements combined with the great outdoors provokes our inner strengths and forces us to work harder, set the bar higher, and push ourselves past our comfort zone!

I’m working on getting my own team together for the Tri-State race in September, 2012!

Here are just a few of the benefits when you sign up:

Provides participants with a daily workout (get serious or get MORE serious)

Inspiring blogs to keep you motivated!

45 days from the couch to the finish line

Weekly newsletter., plan and daily tips to change your life!

The Happiness Project, by Gretchen Rubin

Once again, my lovely teenage daughter turned me onto this book! It is a wonderful read that will have you thinking about what makes you truly happy, and implement small changes to enjoy your life, your friends, your family, and your passions with a new, clear, and happier perspective.

Author Gretchen Rubin had an epiphany one rainy afternoon in the unlikeliest of places: a city bus. "The days are long, but the years are short," she realized. "Time is passing, and I'm not focusing enough on the things that really matter." In that moment, sed decided to dedicate a year to her happiness project.
In this lively and compelling account, Rubin chronicles her adventures during the twelve months she spent test-driving the wisdom of the ages, current scientific research, and lessons from popular culture about how to be happier. Among other things, she found that novelty and challenge are powerful sources of happiness: that money can help buy happiness, when spent wisely: that outer order contributes to inner calm:and that the very smallest of changes can make the biggest difference.

Tina Fey---Bossypants!

                                    Tina Fey is HOT!
I read this book last summer on the beach and was laughing out loud like a maniac.  Tina Fey is super insightful, self-depricating and really touches on those awkward feelings most of us have had growing up.
You know she's funny, talented, smart and sassy. This book is a great, fun read that will have you smiling all the way through.  I love Tina Fey! Get you some Tina!
